Golf Course Security

“FORE”! If you hear anyone yelling, you should probably watch your head.

Golf as a sport attracts a lot of wealthier individuals, as it’s generally pretty tough to get on a golf course unless you’ve got money. Once you’re on the course, you’re going to need some pretty expensive clubs, too, so becoming the next Tiger Woods can be a bit cost-prohibitive.

In any case, people who are playing golf don’t want to be harassed, and they have certain expectations with respect to their experience while playing the course.

Why security guards are so important for golf courses

Like we mentioned earlier, you usually get some pretty wealthy people playing golf, and sometimes they are celebrities as well and don’t want to be harassed by others while they’re playing. Here are some of the reasons why it’s important to have security guards for golf courses:

• Protect your members from others. If someone like Mark Wahlberg (who, as a matter of fact, loves to golf) is spending his Saturday getting in 18 holes and a bunch of his fans get on the course to get his autograph and take pictures with him, he’s probably not going to be too happy about it. Security guards should be present to keep the fans away and to make sure that your members have the experience which they expect to have. On top of that, if one of your members have a bad experience and they leave your club, then you might end up losing many other members as a result if they feel that you handled the situation poorly.
• Stop after-hours vandalism of the club and the golf course. When it’s 2am and everyone is gone, you might have kids or some not-too-friendly people hanging out on the golf course. After all, the 9th green might be a nice place to hang out and drink beer if you’ve got nothing better to do. It would be a safe bet to make that your members don’t want to see a 40 oz. bottle of Old English poking out of the hole when they’re coming up the course to putt.
• Assisting members whose golf carts have broken down. The beloved golf cart which carries the members from hole to hole is subject to breaking down sometimes. If the cart breaks down, they don’t want to have to walk a mile to get back to the clubhouse to get a new cart. If you have security guards on your golf course patrolling at all times, then the security guards will be there when the members need a lift back to the clubhouse for a new golf cart. They’ll appreciate not being stranded on the fairway.
